A pistol, crossbow and machete used in Spanish assault

On September 8, at 6:40 p.m., East Algoma OPP officers responded to a disturbance related call at a house in the town of Spanish on Highway 17.

Police say an argument started between multiple people at numerous residences on Colonization Road. The arguing escalated quickly when a pistol, crossbow, and machete were brandished. Threats were made and an assault occurred. 

Police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested three of the people involved. 

Dustin Gordon, 28, of Spanish is charged with:

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Handle firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

Thomas Joncas, 64, of Spanish is charged with:

  • Assault
  • Causing a disturbance - non-occupant

Martin MacKenzie, 32, of Spanish is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Causing a disturbance - non-occupant

All are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on November 5.
