November is women abuse prevention month. To raise awareness The Domestic Violence Community Coordinating Committee of Nipissing, (DVCCC) will be hosting its annual Domestic Violence Awareness Night on Friday, November 21st in partnership with the Lakers Men’s Hockey team.
It is the fourth year the DVCCC and the Lakers Men’s Hockey team have joined forces to demonstrate that “we are all involved” in domestic violence in our community. “We are all involved” is the slogan used by the DVCCC to remind our community that we can all play a part in eradicating domestic violence from our neighbourhoods. This year the DVCCC will be making a special presentation to the Lakers Men’s Hockey team in recognition of their commitment to raising awareness on domestic violence.
500 chap sticks are available to the first game goers who attend the game on Friday, November 21st. Members of the DVCCC will be on hand to answer questions about the committee and the work they do. The One Pledge Campaign will also be in attendance and pledge forms will be available for game attendees who have not yet taken the pledge for a violence free community.
