32nd Annual Evening of Applause tonight

The 32nd Annual Evening of Applause is being held tonight (Thursday) in the auditorium at École secondaire catholique Algonquin.

Eighteen students will be honoured as "Students Who Make a Difference," as will five student winners of the Anti-Racism Poster & Artwork contest. Dr. Mike DeGagné will also be inducted into Nipissing District's Human Rights Hall of Fame.

Attendees will enjoy student performances on the theme of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is March 21 each year.

The Evening of Applause event is held in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21st). North Bay and area have the longest running International Day project in Canada.

This local event is planned and sponsored by Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord, Nipissing–Parry Sound Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire public du nord-est, Near North District School Board, Canadore College, Nipissing University, North Bay & District Multicultural Centre, and the North Bay Local Immigration Partnership.

The doors open at 6 p.m. with the Student Digital Art Gallery. The event runs 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. There is no admission fee and the public is welcome to attend.
