Young offender charged after stabbing on New Liskeard street

OPP arrested a young offender after a stabbing on a downtown New Liskeard street on Christmas Eve.

Shortly after 2 a.m.Temiskaming OPP officers responded to an assault call on Market Street.

Investigation revealed that someone with a knife had stabbed a victim.

Police say they arrived moments later and saw the attacker armed with a number of weapons.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A 16-year-old youth from Temiskaming Shores, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act , was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

The teen was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in Temiskaming Shores.
