Woman threatened with her life in West Nipissing Police report

On April 3rd, police began their investigation into an alleged domestic assault. The investigating officer learned that the couple’s relationship had not been going very well and that arguing had become common for the two. The officer further discovered that one of the arguments escalated to the point where the man pushed the woman across a room causing her to fall to the floor. He also threatened the woman’s life. The man was taken into custody and faces charges of assault and uttering threats.

On April 3rd, a Main Street resident contacted the police to advise that one of his vehicle windows had been smashed. Police learned that the mischief occurred sometime between 11:00 pm and 07:00 am. The police encourage residents to report suspicious people or activity whenever they observe such behavior.

On March 31st, police conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle near Gauthier Road in West Nipissing. Upon speaking with the occupants the officer learned that the passenger was wanted and the driver was in possession of controlled substances. The passenger was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant and the driver faces charges of possession of a controlled substance.

On April 1st officers responded to a Cache Bay residence to investigate a complaint of assault. Officers spoke with the complainant who indicated he had been punched by his ex-girlfriend when she attended his residence. Police spoke with the suspect and confirmed that the woman had been at the man’s residence. The 23-year-old woman now faces a charge of failing to comply with the conditions of her undertaking.

On April 1st police were called to a local restaurant regarding an unwanted patron. Police attended the establishment and met with the owner and the patron. The man was uncooperative, belligerent, excited and combative. The man was apprehended and charged for being intoxicated in a public place.

On April 2rd a local businessman contacted the police to report a theft. The man informed police that he had been contacted by a financial institution reporting suspicious activity on his credit card when he tried to find his credit card he discovered that his wallet had been stolen. Police conducted their investigation at which time the learned that two Sturgeon Falls residents had used the credit card at another local business. Two individuals, a woman, and a man face charges of possession of property obtained by crime, use of stolen credit card, the man faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

On April 3rd, police received a complaint of a break and enter from a Muskosung resident. Officers learned that the culprit(s) smashed the cottage front door window and once inside rummaged through the belongings and made off with a variety of items. Police suspect this break and enter is linked to the three reported the previous week. The investigation is ongoing.

Between March 31st and April 6th the West Nipissing Police Service logged 167 calls for service. Among those were 25 police assistance calls, 1 break and enter complaints, 1 Domestic Disturbance call, 1 Mischief complaint, 5 theft complaints.
