Woman assaulted multiple times

The accused returned a short time later and forced his way into the residence, causing damage.

A man who robbed and assaulted a local woman several times over the weekend is facing a lot of charges today.

Police say a man sexual assaulted the woman, known to him, sometime overnight between February 6th and 7th, at a friend’s downtown home.

He is also accused of stealing cash and of assaulting her.

After leaving the residence shortly before 11 a.m., the accused returned a short time later and forced his way back in, causing damage.

He then assaulted her a second time before leaving the home.

Police found and arrested him nearby a short time later.

A search after the arrest revealed that he was in possession of a small quantity of suspected morphine and two prescription pills, believed to be Suboxone.

Police have arrested and charged a 27-year old North Bay man with:

  • One count of sexual assault;
  • One count of theft under $5,000;
  • Two counts of assault;
  • Two counts of mischief;
  • One count of break, enter and commit;
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance;
  • Two counts of breach of probation; and
  • One count of breach of undertaking.

North Bay Police Service is withholding the man's name in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing today.
