Wild motorcycle ride ends in a ditch

Faces four counts of driving while disqualified, along with other charges

A quick, but weaving motorcyclist escaped police but ended up in a ditch after a chase in Parry Sound yesterday.

Shortly after 3 p.m. a West Parry Sound OPP officer saw a motorcycle travelling at an extremely fast speed in Parry Sound.

Officers tried to stop it, but the black motorcycle escaped and fled the area.

Police got reports of the motorcycle weaving in traffic and going through stop lights, but the rider couldn't make a turn on Parry Sound Road and rode into the ditch. The driver fled on foot.  

The K9 unit and Emergency Response Unit arrived and the rider was captured.

Daniel Varcoe, 34, from Brampton, was arrested and charged with:  

  • Flight while pursued by peace officer 
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle 
  • Four counts of driving while disqualified - court order, and
  • Drive motor vehicle - no plates,

Varcoe was held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.
