Tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m., Widdifield Secondary School is hosting an information session for parents and students in Grades 6, 7 and 8. This session will help parents and students to become aware of all the exciting opportunities that are offered at the school, from community outreach and student leadership projects to the Arts Nipissing Program.

Widdifield is a kind and caring learning community.

Students have many opportunities to look beyond the confines of their building to the global community. The Widdifield Free the Children group dedicates countless hours to volunteering for projects. This year marked the completion of the water Project for Ecuador where students raised $5000 to bring water to Ecuador communities.

Students raised funds through a number of fun teambuilding events such as raking leaves, Tasty Tuesday smoothie sales. Another group of dedicated students organized a Football Skill Competition to raise money for Breast Cancer Research and Support for families. Business Students raised money for local charities and for in-school organizations by arranging events like Art Expo, Film night, ping pong challenge, and People Auction.

For almost twenty years now, Widdifield’s Arts Nipissing Program has nurtured passion and precision for the arts in local youth. Graduates of the Arts Nipissing Program have gone on to perform in National stage productions, to graduate from post-secondary arts programs, and to perform world-wide with organizations such as the Young Americans. Many Arts Nipissing graduates have fostered a sense of academic excellence through their study of the arts at Widdifield.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend for more information.
