The Powassan Voodoos have a new dryland training facility this season.

The NOJHL team believes the 'Upper gym' facility at Widdifield Senior Secondary has been developed into one of the better Fitness or Gym spaces for sports training in all of North Bay.

The Powassan Voodoos Strength and Conditioning coach Logan Baker found out about the training facility last spring when he was asked to train a Widdifield sports team.

“Having access to the Widdifield weight room to train the Powassan Voodoos this year gives the team the opportunity to fulfil their potential,” said Baker.

“The facility has all the equipment necessary to create a high-performance environment suitable for our team. We are grateful to the school for generously allowing us to use their room for the 2019-2020 season.”

When the Voodoos hired Logan, he along with Voodoo Management reached out to school athletic director Sean Mullan and were able to come to an agreement and book the use of the space.

Mullan says their department has been working hard to improve its training facilities over the past decade because of the heavy interest students have for post-secondary Personal Training Courses.

“It offers all types of training options that a commercial gym would offer in over 3000 square feet,” said Mullan.

“This winter, not only will Widdifield students benefit, but now local Junior hockey prospects will also be using the space.”
