Where did that snowbank come from?

A motorist must have been surprised to find himself on top of a snowbank Sunday night.

City police were called at 11:10 p.m., following a 9-1-1 call, North Bay Police patrol officers were sent to a single-vehicle crash with a snowbank at the intersection of Marshall Park Drive and Lakeshore Drive.

"The car narrowly missed the fire hydrant and almost hit the LCBO sign," a witness told BayToday.

Upon arrival, police found the abandoned vehicle mounted on a snow bank on the south-east corner of the intersection. They found and arrested the driver inside a convenience store across the road from the scene of the collision.

North Bay Police charged the driver, a 34-year old North Bay man, with:

  • One count of drive while ability impaired; and
  • One count of drive with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.

He was released with a court date scheduled for February 7th.
