What you need to know about tonight’s SITP’s musical entertainment

The first indoor version of Summer in the Parks concerts will take place tonight with DNCE the main event Friday night as they are expected to hit the stage at 9:30 p.m.

The first indoor version of Summer in the Parks concerts will take place tonight with DNCE the main event Friday night as they are expected to hit the stage at 9:30.  

The American funk-rock band consists of vocalist Joe Jonas, formerly from the Jonas Brothers, along with drummer Jack Lawless, bassist and keyboardist Cole Whittle, and guitarist JinJoo Lee

Their debut single "Cake by the Ocean" reached top 10 status on several charts back in 2015.   

They also were nominated for Favorite New Artist for the 2016 Kids' Choice Awards and Best Song to Lip Sync and Best Anthem for the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards. The group performed at the 2017 Fashion Meets Music Festival.

At 8:30 p.m., Canadian artist Scott Helman will hit the stage.  Helman is a two-time nominee for the 2016 Juno awards for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Pop Album of the Year.”  

Another Canadian artist, who is the son of a legendary Montreal Canadiens goaltender will try to excite the Memorial Gardens crowd when he hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. 

Jonathan Roy, a former Junior hockey goalie, and son of Patrick Roy abandoned his hockey teen while in his late teens to pursue a career in music.  

Having previously released three albums, his major-label debut, Mr. Optimist Blues, was released in 2017 and includes several songs written by 1980s Canadian pop star Corey Hart.

At 7 p.m. fans will be entertained by local musician Nicholas Cangiano. 

The North Bay native has been compared to artists such as Radiohead, The Black Keys, Chet Faker, Glass Animals, Tash Sultana, and more.
