Mayor Joanne Savage today lifted the month-long emergency declaration for the Municipality of West Nipissing.

Lake Nipissing’s water level has receded to an average of 196.30 m.

A flood warning remains in effect for the shoreline of Lake Nipissing within the local Conservation Authority's jurisdiction until tomorrow.

For areas other than Lake Nipissing within the NBMCA area, including the Ottawa River at the Town of Mattawa, the flood warning has ended, and a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety remains in effect due to high water levels.

Currently, 14mm of precipitation is forecast for today, with up to 35mm total over the next five days.  There is potential for strong westerly winds over the next two days, with gusts up to 35km/h.

Lake Nipissing is currently at elevation 196.31m near North Bay, falling approximately 3cm over the last 24 hours. Lake Nipissing continues to remain vulnerable to wind and rain effects, and any strong westerly winds may drive up water levels on the east side of Lake Nipissing including the City of North Bay and the Municipality of Callander.

"While some areas in the community remain impacted by high water levels, the flooding conditions are anticipated to improve over the coming days," says the West Nipissing municipal website.

Road closures for Hillman Road and Avenue du Lac have been lifted as of today.  All other road closures remain in effect.  Motorists are reminded to adhere to road closure signs until further notice.

For safety reasons, boat launch availability is still limited.

The Secondary Boat Launch in Cache Bay and the launch at Minnehaha Bay remain available for the public. Boaters are urged to navigate respectfully to limit wake and to be cautious of floating debris.
