West Ferris Secondary School is hosting an information session for parents and students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 tonight at 6:30 p.m. This session will help parents and students to become aware of all the exciting opportunities that are offered at the school from the ST-Wireless program to extracurricular opportunities.

The ST-Wireless program at West Ferris provides enrichment in mathematics, science, and technology and encourages students to become more independent learners that appreciate the interrelationships between the subjects they study. The program is designed to encourage students to be innovative and creative independent learners by providing more opportunities to explore and discover in non-traditional ways. Students integrate mathematics, science and technology, computers, research, and language to develop skills in problem solving, analysis, experimentation, synthesis and communication. Students selected into the ST-Wireless program are provided with the use of a 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro to use while they are at school.

West Ferris typically offers students extra-curricular programs to participate in; there truly is something for everyone. The school has been active in Sears Drama Festivals and the Kiwanis Music Festival. In addition, West Ferris students are consistently Ontario Science Fair and Robotics competition award winners as well as in Math and in Business competitions. They are proud to be winners of various N.D.A. N.O.S.S.A, and O.F.S.A.A. competitions in several sports, and three time winners of the prestigious Triple Crown.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend the session tonight to learn more.
