There is lots of interest in the upcoming municipal election if attendance at last night's Chamber of Commerce Meet and Greet is any indication.

The event, held at the Grande Event Centre, attracted almost all candidates and an estimated 400 curious voters.

"We're very happy with the turnout," Chamber Board Chair Charles Elliott said. "It's kind of like a 'trade show' for candidates and people can really have a chance to see what the candidates are made of."

Most candidates had tables set up, covered in leaflets, signs and assorted fruits and candy.

"People are saying 'great night' and 'glad you put it together', " said Elliott, "If there was a debate style it would be very hard to get a feel for the candidates. This gives people the opportunity to get some questions in to the candidates about what is important to them."

The election is Monday, Oct. 22.
