The Powassan Voodoos wrapped up their main training camp weekend in Powassan over the weekend.

More than 25 signed and free-agent players attended the event at the Powassan Sportsplex on the weekend.

It was the first time on the ice for new Voodoos head coach Marc Lafleur who ran four very competitive, high-tempo sessions at the Sportsplex on Saturday and Sunday.

Voodoos GM Chris Dawson was impressed.

"Coach Marc engaged the group which led to a very intense training camp," noted Dawson.

"The compete level was high and certainly the talent was there. After that training camp, I think it is safe to say we will be a team that will have the ability to play with pace which should make it an exciting season for Voodoos fans."

The Voodoos expect to make some more signing announcements early this week as they prepare for their first real game action since March of 2020.

The Voodoos will play a pre-season home and home series against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners starting Friday, September 10 with puck drop set for 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex with a maximum fan capacity limited to 100.

The Voodoos will then travel north to Kirkland Lake on Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. start for the back end of the pre-season series.

The Voodoos will open the regular season on Friday, September 17 when they travel to Noelville for the season opener against the French River Rapids.
