The Powassan Voodoos have signed Great North Midget League All-Star and Battalion prospect Alex Little, the club announced on Friday.

Alex Little scored 9 goals and added 20 assists for 29 points in 38 points from the North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers blueline in 2019-20.

The 2003 birth year defenceman from Minden, was also selected in the third round, 41st overall, by the North Bay Battalion in this spring's Ontario Hockey League Under-18 Priority Selection.

"It means a lot to sign with the Voodoos because they run an amazing program that always puts a winning team on the ice," said Little.

"They have great coaches, players and fans and I can’t wait to get started."

Little played four regular seasons with the Voodoos this past season as an affiliate player. He was also named to Team Great North All-Star team that competed in a high profile tournament in Saguenay, Quebec back in November of 2019.

Voodoos GM Chris Dawson says Little is a great addition to the Voodoos blueline.

"Alex is a solid puck-moving defenceman with great vision. He was a player we could rely on as an affiliate last season and we hope he continues his development with us in 2020-21," said Dawson.

The Voodoos are still waiting for more direction from Hockey Canada, the OHF and the NOJHL as to when the 2020-21 season is set to begin.
