The Powassan Voodoos continue to prepare for the 2020-21 hockey season by signing New Liskeard Cubs forward Jackson Buffam, the club announced on Friday.

Buffam led the Cubs of the Great North Midget AAA League in scoring with 19 goals and 31 assists for 49 points in 35 games in 2019-20.

"I feel it is a privilege to play for a proven winning organization and continue my development in the North," said Buffam.

The energetic, skilled forward also got into five affiliate games last season with the Voodoos where he registered one goal.

"Jackson was another player who got a long look in training camp last summer," noted Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager about the forward who turns 18 in December.

"He got an opportunity at this level to play a few affiliate games and along with that, he had a tremendous development season putting up solid numbers with the Cubs and getting named to the league's all-star squad that travelled to Quebec last year. He's an elite player from the North and we are thrilled he wants to continue to develop with us."

Buffam led the Cubs in scoring with 19 goals and 31 assists for 49 points in 35 games in 2019-20.

The Voodoos are still waiting for more direction from Hockey Canada, the OHF and the NOJHL as to when the 2020-21 season is set to begin.
