The Powassan Voodoos continue to bolster their lineup up front with the signing of 2004 birth year forward Justin Spurrell, the club announced on Friday.

Spurrell, a 2020 10th round selection of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds impressed Voodoos scouts during some summer prospects skates in the GTA.
The Voodoos believe Spurrell has the ability to make an immediate impact this fall.

"We are very excited to get a player of Justin’s caliber into the fold in Powassan this season," noted Mike Mackley, the Voodoos VP of Hockey Operations.

"Justin has strong two-way skills, he’s a rangy forward who skates very well. He’s able to use his speed to create offence off the rush and has a strong release and deceptively strong hands around the net."

The Brampton product cannot wait to get going.

"I chose the Voodoos because I was looking to develop and understand the game at a higher level and want to compete with a winning organization," said Spurrell.

"The Voodoos provide a high-end and highly skilled staff that want to win. They take pride in their brand and their players. They offer a great program and have a track record of success, winning a Copeland Cup in 2017. I’m very eager to be part of a winning team and want to contribute to another Copeland Cup in 21/22."

Spurrell will join his new teammates in early September for the start of the 2021-22 training camp at the Powassan Sportsplex.
