'It was a different walk for sure, but in many ways, it was so very special'

The North Bay community walked, ran, biked, crafted, jumped, squatted, burpeed, danced, and stretched in the name of Cystic Fibrosis awareness.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was all in a virtual setting on Sunday.

Organizers are very pleased to announce that despite COVID-19 and the restrictions placed on our ability to host pre-walk events and fundraisers, more than $39,000 has been raised.

CF officials say these funds support the critical initiatives Cystic Fibrosis Canada has planned for this upcoming year, including very important advocacy work to promote access to life-saving medicines.

A moment of silence was observed for local CF fighter Natalie Daoust who lost her battle with cystic fibrosis this month.

Radio announcer Kevin Oschefski from KiSS issued a 10 for 10 challenge by pledging to run 30 km on behalf of the known CF fighters/families in the community.

"Thank you to KiSS 100.5 North Bay and Kevin Oschefski for the #10for10challenge," said Macrina Perron, media coordinator, Cystic Fibrosis Canada-North BAy.

"Today you united our community while we all found a way to #walkyourway4cf. Thank you for your dedication to Cystic Fibrosis Canada's mission to #ENDCF you are a true champion.

"It was a different walk for sure, but in many ways, it was so very special. At a time when we are even more isolated than usual, somehow today felt like we were closer than ever."

The Studio offered a variety of Zumba and Strong Nation fitness options, while Simply twisted Yoga and Wellness offered a soothing Yoga Class to wrap up the day.
