WARREN - On June 7, 2014 at 5 p.m., officers from the Warren Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 17 (between Sutcliffe Road and the Veuve River Bridge) in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren.

Investigation revealed that an eastbound car drifted across the centre line and sideswiped a westbound SUV.

The eastbound car continued across the westbound lane and struck a westbound motorcycle head-on.

The 58-year-old male driver of the eastbound car, who is from North Bay, was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The 55-year-old female driver of the westbound SUV, from Sudbury and her 57-year-old female passenger, from Callander were not injured.

The male driver and female passenger on the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene.

They are identified as Alain Lacoursiere, age 48 of Val Caron and Kerrie Leblanc, age 48, also of Val Caron.

Highway 17 re-opened in both directions at 9:15 p.m. last night.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator and charges are pending.
