Early this morning, during a routine patrol, North Bay Police stopped two people appeared to be consuming alcohol on the street.

When stopped by police for the unlawful consumption of alcohol, the teen identified himself to police with a false name.

Then, following a police search after his arrest, he had in his possession numerous items consistent with thefts from motor vehicles.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a young person with:

  • One count of obstructing a police officer;
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000;
  • Two counts of breach of probation; and
  • One count of breach of recognizance.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The other person stopped by police has been issued a ticket for unlawful consumption of alcohol.
