Victims identified in yesterday's fatal traffic accidents

The investigation is continuing however it has been determined that road and weather conditions were not a factor in this collision

Police have identified the person killed in yesterday's highway 17 collision between a transport truck and SUV.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 65-year-old Lise Myre from Sudbury. The driver of the transport truck sustained minor injuries.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m., east of Markstay, midway between Sudbury and Sturgeon Falls.

Highway 17 W. was closed for approximately seven hours while police conducted an investigation. That investigation is continuing, however, it has been determined that road and weather conditions were not a factor in this collision.

As a result of the investigation, no charges will be laid, add police.

Meanwhile, Sudbury OPP say the victim has been identified in that fatal, single motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 6:19 a.m. yesterday on Highway 17, east of Regional Road 55.

The passenger of the transport truck was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 33-year-old Jennifer Bastasich from Cornwall, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the transport truck, Kimberly-Ann Warden, also from Cornwall, is charged with careless driving.

Highway 17 westbound lanes in that area were closed for approximately 12 hours while emergency services personnel conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. 

The investigation is continuing. It has been determined that road and weather conditions were not a factor.
