Mother Nature cooperated and the Vest Project's Concert for Peace at the waterfront Wednesday evening was deemed a big success.

"Thank you to everyone who participated in the silent auction and who donated; over $7,000 was raised towards the purchase of non-lethal protective gear for the frontline defenders of Ukraine," said Vest Project organizers via social media.

"We would like to extend our gratitude to Ralph Celentano, the committee, volunteers, and sponsors for their time, organization, and dedication in creating the Concert for Peace in support of Ukraine. It was a beautiful evening for our community," organizers stated.

Hundreds attended the waterfront event which included live music provided by the local band Maple Hill Project.

The Vest Project was created by a pair of local women, Lori Burns and Cindie D'Agostino, who found a way to support and send funds to purchase non-lethal protective equipment for front-line people in need.

Since its inception, organizers estimate they have raised over $60,000 locally for the cause.
