The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit says that 46,936 people have now had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, and that translates to 43 per cent of the over 18 population.

It also says there are two new cases today, bringing the total to 363 with 16 active.

April was the second-highest month for case count with 60. The worst month was February with 71 cases being reported.

The statistics also show the biggest age group for contracting the virus is 20-39. That group accounts for 32 per cent of the total.

The Timiskaming Health Unit reports 22 active cases.

The Sudbury Health Unit reports 10 new cases with 86 active. 

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reports 56 new cases with 1,526 active cases. There were 23 COVID-19 deaths in April, nearly double the 12 Simcoe Muskoka residents who died from COVID-19 in March. 

Meanwhile, a standby list is now available for same-day COVID-19 vaccination appointments in Simcoe Muskoka for those who are eligible and can get to an appointment within 45 minutes of receiving a call.
