North Bay Transit is asking passengers to board buses at the rear door in order to limit interactions with drivers.

Fares will be suspended until further notice as a result of this new measure, which is effective immediately.

Those requiring the use of the accessible ramp on City buses will continue to be provided this service upon request says a news release from the city.

Unlike some other cities, North Bay transit will not limit the number of passengers to maximize social distancing. Riders are being asked to follow public health recommendations regarding social distancing, safe handwashing, and hygiene.

"We’ll be monitoring the number of passengers, but, at this point, there’s no need to limit them because ridership is low," Communications Officer Gord Young told BayToday.

North Bay Transit’s weekday and Saturday schedules are being adjusted so that starting Saturday, March 21, buses will run every hour. All routes will continue to operate.

Employees continue to implement enhanced sanitizing procedures and processes.
