Two new forest fires in the North Bay region

Fires located near Sudbury and North Bay; none are under control

Three new fires have been confirmed in the Northeast region Wednesday, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services stated in a release, two in the North Bay area and one near Sudbury.

  • North Bay 6 is 0.1 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. This fire is located near Lake Temagami.
  • North Bay 7 is 0.6 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located south of Lake Nipissing.
  • Sudbury 45 is 0.1 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located north of Burwash.

Currently, there are four other active fires across the region, of these, two are not under control and two are under control.

  • Sudbury 42 is 29 hectares and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located northwest of Wanapitei Provincial Park.
  • Sudbury 43 is 0.5 of a hectare and not under control at the time of this update. The fire is located east of Sudbury 42.

The fire hazard in the central portion of the region ranges mostly from high to extreme, while areas in the northern and southern sections of the region are seeing a moderate to high hazard today.
