Two new COVID cases Monday

There are 52 active cases in the region, 49 in the Nipissing District. Six are in hospital

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports two new COVID cases Monday, after reporting an additional 10 over the weekend. It brings to 534 the number since the pandemic began.

There are 52 active cases in the region, 49 in the Nipissing District. Six are in hospital.

An outbreak has been declared at the North Bay jail where 18 people have tested positive.

The Health Unit also reports that 72 per cent of the adult population has had at least one dose of vaccine with 20 per cent fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has reported 270 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 21).

This is the seventh consecutive day the province has reported fewer than 400 new cases, and the second time this month the daily case report has been below 300.

And the Canadian government announced today that fully vaccinated Canadians returning to Canada will soon be able to avoid a mandatory quarantine as long as they still test negative for COVID-19.

The Timiskaming Health Unit reports no new cases and no active cases.

The Sudbury Health Unit reports six new cases and 29 active cases.

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reports 21 new cases and 144 active cases.

There were 63 new cases reported to the health unit last week (week of June 13th), 36 per cent lower than the 98 cases reported for the week of June 6th. This was the lowest weekly case total since September 2020.
