Laurentian Ski Hill in North Bay and Antoine Mountain of Mattawa jointly announced today a co-operative arrangement designed to provide local skiers and snowboarders with greater downhill options.
The new agreement is also being undertaken to bring more downhill competitions to the region.
The “Best of Both Worlds” initiative means immediate opportunities and benefits for local skiers and snowboarders.
“There are benefits for season pass holders of both hills such as a 20 per cent discount on full-day lift tickets through a reciprocal agreement,” said John Strang, Laurentian Ski Hill President in a release.
Officials believe that partnership will also allow them to bring bigger events to the local ski hills.
“From a Sport Tourism perspective, both facilities will work together making combined bids for provincial and national competitions,” said Janine Goad, General Manager of Antoine Mountain.
"Together, Laurentian and Antoine offer a graduated experience to skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels. We are thrilled to be able to pair up and work together to enhance the downhill experience.”
Goad and Strang both indicated a high level of confidence the two hills together make for a stronger bid package for provincial and national events.
“Regional, provincial and national events bring skiers, coaches and families, all staying in local hotels and eating at local restaurants they are a big boost to the local economy” said Strang.
“Such events also bring media coverage which provides an opportunity for our ski facilities and our communities to shine,” added Goad.
Both Laurentian and Antoine are easily accessible and both have undergone significant investments in infrastructure over the last several years.
