As they continue their journey towards the McCaw Cup and the USports National Championship in the next few days, the Nipissing Lakers women's hockey team received some more good news recently.

The Lakers had a pair of players named OUA First Team All-Stars. Forward Malory Dominico and defener Madison Laberge were awarded for their great seasons, landing an OUA all-star nod, as the teams were released today.

Dominico, whose sister Maria is also on the team, had a big season for the Lakers, tying for the OUA lead in goals with 15 in 26 games.

She also added 11 assists, earning a point a game pace, while picking up three power play goals, one shorthanded tally and four game-winners.

Her point per game clip placed her third in the OUA.

The North Bay, ON product started the season off with a seven-game point streak, posting 10 points to begin the year.

She had two multi-goal efforts and had scored four times in three games during a stretch to begin the second semester of play.

Madison Laberge was the second highest scoring defender in the OUA, sitting just two points behind the leader.

The Val Therese, ON product had four goals and 17 assists, with one power play marker and a game-winner.

She began the season on fire, posting points in five straight games and tallying a total of eight points – one goal and seven assists – in those five games.

The veteran finished the year with seven multi-point games, including a two goal effort in late January.

On top of her great start, she also put together a three game point streak, collecting four points at the end of November and beginning of December.

The Lakers head to the McCaw Cup this Saturday as they face the U of T.
