Ontario Provincial Police in Sudbury have charged a 44-year-old Trout Creek man in connection with a collision last year which left one person dead.

The accident took place Oct. 28 on Hwy 17 East at Second Avenue in Coniston.

An eastbound tractor-trailer unit approached the intersection and failed to stop for the red light and struck a mini van driven by Pauline Blais, 60, of Coniston, who died as a result of the accident.

The tractor-trailer unit then continued east on Highway 17 through the intersection and collided with two other vehicles who were stopped on the east side of the intersection.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, but two other drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries.
