Trophies for The Trews

Mitch Belanger and Leanne Davis our colleagues from 102 FM The Fox radio station are, as they sum it up with a movie quote, 'mad as hell and they’re not going to take it anymore'.

The morning show personalities can’t understand why the Niagara Falls band 'The Trews' did not receive a nod for a Juno this year.

“It’s an outrage – they really are the best Canadian band going right now,” says Belanger. “We had to do something to show the band our appreciation.”

And so they launched the “Trophies for The Trews” campaign.

“We’re encouraging all our listeners to bring in their old trophies, sitting on the shelf and collecting dust,” Davis says.

“Bowling, fishing… whatever they’ve medaled in… we’re going to give them a good polish and send them off to the band."

“Who needs a stupid Juno? What is it anyway? Some naked guy made of glass?” Belanger added.

The trophy drive begins Wednesday and continues until the end of the week.

Listeners can drop of their trophies in the main lobby of the FOX studios at 743 Main Street East during regular business hours.
