It's open now, but a train-transport collision Saturday afternoon closed Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores for several hours.

The accident happened at 12:30 p.m., at the Ontario Northland Railway crossing on Highway 11 near Bedard Road, northwest of the town

The 36-year-old truck driver from Unionville, Ontario, and the train occupants were uninjured. The passenger in the truck had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

"Investigation revealed that the transport was travelling northbound and the train eastbound," said Constable Alexandra Jackson. "It was also determined that there was an issue with the railway light warning system and the transport was travelling under the posted maximum speed limit."

The Highway was closed for several hours and did not re-open until shortly after 9 p.m. the next day on August 17.

Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP, District of Timiskaming Emergency Medical Services and Temiskaming Shores Fire Department were also dispatched to the collision.

A Scenes of Crime Officer, an OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator, and an OPP Reconstructionist are also assisting in the investigation.
