Traffic stop solves break and enter

While speaking with the driver and passenger, the officers noticed an extensive amount of property in the back seat.

When Mattawa OPP stopped a vehicle on October 23 at approximately 11:15 p.m., on Papineau Road in Papineau-Cameron Township they got more that they expected.

While speaking with the driver and passenger, the officers noticed an extensive amount of property in the back seat which included plenty of tools.  Drug paraphernalia was also noticed by the officers.

As a result of the investigation, Karl Mirault, age 24, and Justin Thomas, age 25, of Mattawa, were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana – under 30 grams, 
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine 
  • Break, Enter a Place - Commit Indictable Offence 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
