The North Bay Highway Safety Division Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remains vigilant in its efforts to promote public safety and security through enforcement of Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) legislation.
On January 14, 2014, at approximately 11:40 a.m., a member of the Highway Traffic Division OPP was patrolling on Highway 17 in East Ferris Township and stopped a westbound vehicle for a traffic infraction.
As a result of the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, the driver, William LOHNES, age 30 of Niagara Falls, of the motor vehicle was charged with fail to have a driver’s licence, drive while under suspension and speeding.
The passenger, Dylan HUGHES, age 23 of Bonfield, was charged with traffic schedule II substance - cannabis marihuana under 3 kilograms, section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Police seized 109 grams of marihuana.
The North Bay OPP asks the public to be alert to suspicious persons, vehicles and activities, especially in remote locations, and to report same to OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122.
