Town hall meeting in North Bay will discuss dementia

Today, there are over 200,000 Ontarians living with dementia and this number is expected pour augmenter by 15 per percent in just four years.

Today, there are over 200,000 Ontarians living with dementia and this number is expected to increase by 15 per percent in just four years.

So a series of five public consultations headed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will begin October 25 with one taking place in North Bay.

The consultations will be held in several communities of the Province of Ontario in order to study the document "Developing Ontario's strategy for dementia: working Document" which was released on September 21.

The public consultation will be held this Thursday in North Bay.

Discussions will begin in French at 4.30, while the consultation held in English will start at 7 p.m. at the Golden Age Club at 135 Worthington Street West.

The public consultation will give the opportunity for everyone to participate in Ontario's strategy for dementia.

The participants of this consultation will give their opinion on the following questions:

  • how to improve the support offered to living persons with dementia and their caregivers
  • how to increase the availability of coordinated services to this group,
  • how to increase the skills of the labor of work working with clients affected by dementia, and finally,
  • what are the priorities in research on brain health.

People's immediate contribution to the provincial strategy on dementia is needed. Today, over 200,000 Ontarians living with dementia and this number is expected to grow 15% over the next four years. Ontarians with dementia and caregivers deserve excellent dementia strategy. Today it is time to react!
