Tour de Trout makes a huge splash for kids!

Tour de Trout’s last swim was Friday, August 16 and throughout the event had the support of 64 swimmers from 9 years old to 75 years young, 38 kayakers, 12 land shuttles, two land coordinators and 28 dock hosts

An event designed to raise money for children's swimming lessons is celebrating a record year.

Tour de Trout has raised a record-breaking $5,850.

The early goal for this year was to raise enough to get 15 children into swimming lessons through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, but now, 36 children will be able to learn how to swim.

Tour de Trout is a fundraising event for the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign run by past YMCA board member Johanne Brousseau. Avid and enthusiastic swimmers gather to swim the contour of Trout Lake and its major bays to fundraise.

“I’m excited that we had so many passionate swimmers participate in Tour de Trout this year," said Brousseau, Tour de Trout Chair.

"I want to thank all the sponsors, kayakers, canoeists, dock hosts, land coordinators and volunteers that helped make sure that our swimmers were safe, had a place to rest and knew where they were going! Without your support, none of this would have been possible. Thanks to you, many kids will now get to learn how to swim at the YMCA!”

The YMCA Strong Kids campaign helps people of all ages by providing access and financial assistance to participate in YMCA programs and services.
