Tiny Italy leaves downtown

“Tiny Italy would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us these last 2 years, unfortunately we have closed our downtown location to join our sister resto The Breakfast House in Callander..."

On Thursday night, the small Italian restaurant on Wyld Street, known as Tiny Italy announced it would be changing locations to its sister restaurant in Callander—leaving downtown North Bay.

“Tiny Italy would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us these last two years, unfortunately, we have closed our downtown location to join our sister resto The Breakfast House in Callander. Tiny Italy will focus on catering which has been a big part of our business but still feature our daily specials at our Callander location,” they posted to their Facebook page.

Since then, dozens of supporters have expressed their regrets for Tiny Italy changing locations, but have pledged their support.

Last year, owner Filippo Suriano championed the first of the downtown patios—followed by the Moose Cookhouse this summer. BayToday.ca reached out to Tiny Italy for comments, but has yet to receive a response at this time.

Tiny Italy has stated it would continue to cater as part of its business as well as look at extending the hours of The Breakfast House later than 2 p.m. in the upcoming month.

Meanwhile a source tells BayToday that a new restaurant will soon take its place, incorporating the space next door with a summer patio.

Renovations of the location will start soon.
