Thief unlucky in truck thefts

An unknown culprit had entered a garage on the property and tried to steal a truck.

Two trucks targeted for theft still sit in the owners driveway after repeated unsuccessful attempts at theft.

On Tuesday at approximately 4.a.m., Powassan OPP were called to an attempted theft of two vehicles on Weiler Line, South Himsworth Township.

An unknown culprit had entered a garage on the property and tried to steal a truck.

But when he tried to leave the property he got the truck stuck, and so returned to steal another truck that was parked in the driveway. 

The thief also failed to drive this vehicle off the property and so fled on foot.

The owner of the trucks called police when he noticed that someone tried to steal his vehicles.

By the time police arrived the would-be criminal had already escaped. 

Through further investigation, Daniel Dolbeck, age 21, South Himsworth Township, was found, arrested and charged with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle x 2, 
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle x 2, 
  • Driving while Disqualified 
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, 
  • Breach of Recognizance x 3, 
  • Trespassing at Night, 

Dolbeck was held for bail.
