They say it's the most depressing day of the year. Here's some good news.

It's also the dead of winter

It's known as Blue Monday.

Experts at a university in Wales have determined this date due to such factors as:

  • broken New Year’s resolutions,
  • inclement weather and
  • a flurry of holiday bills.
  • a holiday hangover or a cold.

It's also the dead of winter...that point of the calendar where there is more winter behind us than ahead of us.

It's is calculated by taking the average temperature for every day of the year and on the day that average hits its lowest, we've hit the dead of winter.

And that's this week for North Bay.

But not this year.

Starting Wednesday, and for eight days straight, we'll actually see daytime highs reaching zero or above, hitting plus 2 on the weekend.

There's also sunshine thrown in.

Feel better?
