Geoff Mayne, local artist and recent Nipissing University graduate is presenting his first solo art exhibition.

Over the past six months Mayne has been working hard to create a collection of paintings for his upcoming show.

He approached the gallery with the goal of completing between 20 to 25 portraits for an exhibition.

"I had the opportunity to work in the artist's studio during a great length of the project, and I believe that he has surpassed his original goals. The show has come together with incredibly life-like, vibrant, portraiture," says James Thorne, the gallery curator.

"The Westlake Gallery is excited to open for the 2016 year with Mayne's exhibition, The Portrait Project."

The show is opening, March 18, 7-9:30 p.m, during the Downtown Gallery Hop. The public is invited to see the artist's work, chat with the artist, and enjoy some free food. This is a free community event.

The Westlake Gallery is a non for-profit art gallery committed to the exhibition of emerging and local artists, and community engaged events. The show will run until April 16th from Monday to Friday 12 -3 pm, or by appointment.
