Take a magic carpet ride with Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre!

Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre's Aladdin Jr. features over 90 kids in this classical musical, with an impressive set, wonderful costumes, and a live band to immerse the audience in the magical world of Agrabah

Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre invites you to take a magic carpet ride into a whole new world of wonder and mysticism with their musical stage production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. starting this Friday.

Under the direction of Krysten Griffith with Vocal Direction by Fiona Spack and Choreography by Riley Beam, 95 children from grades 3 – 8 have been rehearsing at West Ferris S.S. since September to present this show at North Bay`s Capitol Centre. With an amazing set (Ray Girard) and Fly’s (Stacey Caverly) and magnificent costumes by Cheryl Girard this show is a beautiful presentation of the talents of local artists from North Bay, collaborating in this musical stage performance.

Griffith said it was a daunting task to take on, directing over 90 kids, in her first role as director, but said she enjoys the challenge of taking on new production. Plus, she has had a long history with Dreamcoat and loved being back.

“I started with Dreamcoat when I was eight years old and have been involved in plays all throughout high school,” Griffith said. “I’ve really enjoyed directing this, with my experience as an actor and in dance, and it’s so magical watching it all come together on the stage.”

Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-Winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Disney’s Aladdin Jr. will soar into the many iconic musical numbers, like Griffith’s favourite ‘A Whole New World,’ a classic for her.

And to accompany the performers in their musical journey, Aladding Jr. will be featuring a live pit band of local musicians, which Griffith says makes a big difference in immersing both audiences and performers.

When the street urchin, Aladdin vies for the attention of the beautiful princess, Jasmine, he uses a genie’s magical power to become a prince in order to marry her but must contest with the villainous machinations of the evil advisor, Jafar, and his pet parrot, Iago.

Tickets are still available for the evening performances on January 27 and 28 at 7:00 p.m., are $20.00 each and can be purchased at Creative Learning or at The Capitol Centre box office at the door or online.
