We may have lost Porter, but Sunwing has announced it is coming back to North Bay for a sixth consecutive year providing winter vacation flights.

The airline has added anew weekly flight service to the popular Cuban destination of Cayo Coco that will operate on Wednesdays between December 20, and March 21.

"Home to beautiful white-sand beaches, picturesque scenery, a coral reef that stretches over 10kms, and the largest colony of pink flamingos in the world, the idyllic island of Cayo Coco is a favourite for beach lovers, snorkellers and scuba divers," according to a Sunwing release. "An environmentally protected area, it also offers many scenic hiking and biking trails."

President of Tour Operations, Andrew Dawson, welcomed the news. “We’re very pleased to be returning to North Bay for a sixth season. Cuba is perennially one of our most popular destinations and we’re delighted to be able to offer residents of North Bay access to one of its most attractive resort destinations this coming winter.”

Jack Santerre, Airport Manager for North Bay Jack Garland Airport commented, “We are excited to have Sunwing providing service to Cayo Coco in Cuba for North Bay and the surrounding region this year. We encourage travellers to support and take advantage of this great service that facilitates their winter sun destination vacation.”

In an email to BayToday, Rachel Goldrick, Senior Corporate Communications Manager said,"North Bay is one of 35 different departure airports from coast to coast available for our customers this coming winter. In Northern Ontario specifically, we also offer flights from Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie. A vacation package at Memories Caribe, departing from North Bay this winter is available from $1255 per person, inclusive of taxes. This price is based on two people a room and departing Jan 10, 2018 for 7 nights and includes return flights and transfers."
