The third fatal crash on Hwy 17 in less than a week has claimed the life of a Sundridge woman.

Provincial Police had to close the highway for approximately six hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted with the assistance of a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator and a Reconstructionist.

The initial investigation revealed that the driver of an eastbound mini van lost control crossing into the westbound lane. Two westbound vehicles took evasive action, however the van struck a westbound pickup truck. A passenger in the mini van, Marie Phillips, 75, of Sundridge, was killed as a result of the collision. Both involved drivers were transported to St Joseph’s health center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing, but charges are not anticipated.
