Sun ready to shine on new waterfront snack bar and beach store

'We are going to do a phased opening this weekend and we will start going with the grab-and-go stuff at the beginning of June and by July 1 we have the beach store side of it as well as the food side and be fully up and operational'

Rich Stivrins hopes his new business ventures will be two missing puzzle pieces to the North Bay waterfront.

Stivrins, the captain of the Chief Commanda II and the new owner of the newly branded "Boathouse Rental Company" is in the process of getting a new snack bar operational at the waterfront as well as opening a portion of the waterfront building into a beachgoers store.

He says contractors have been working hard to get the interior of the building ready.

"We are happy to see the progress that has happened there and we are excited we will be able to kind of open up in a more real way by June 1 and be fully opened by July 1," said Stivrins.

Stivrins, who announced his intentions of expanding at this location last August, says the beach store will offer towels and sunscreen while the new snack bar will sell sandwiches, wraps, and charcuterie-style snack packs.

With the Boat restaurant further down the waterfront, and vendors available in the parking lot, Stivrins believes this snack bar will complement the appetites of waterfront visitors.

"That is kind of the thought; setting up so people can enjoy Shabogesic Beach and all that Lake Nipissing has to offer," said Stivrins.

Stivrins expects to reveal more news in the coming weeks including the new name for the snack bar and beach store.
