Sturgeon stabbing suspect arrested

A stabbing in Sturgeon has resulted in the arrest of a man for assault.

OPP say on September 25, at 8 a.m. Nipissing West officers responded to a report of an assault that had occurred the previous night, in Sturgeon Falls.  

Investigation revealed at approximately 10:30 p.m. on September 24, while walking on King Street the victim and another person approached two other people, one of whom was an acquaintance of theirs. 

"Their conversation became heated and confrontational and subsequently resulted in one person being stabbed by the unknown person," said Constable Michelle Coulombe. "The victim, who suffered a stab wound to the upper body, was treated and released from the hospital."

A was arrested on the afternoon of September 25.  

As a result of the investigation, Lucas McCann, 20, from Sturgeon Falls, is charged with assault with a weapon.

McCann was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on November 5, in Sturgeon Falls.
