“Looks like evacuation for Josh, scary stuff.”

Like any father, Mike Hunter is concerned about the well being of his sons.

His son Josh is one of thousands of residents of the city of Fort McMurray that faced an evacuation order on Tuesday as a raging fire around the northern Alberta city had destroyed more than 1,600 structures by Wednesday morning.

Josh, who is working for an oil company in Fort McMurray was told to leave his home and was heading for his Uncle’s place in Ardrossan, Alberta, which is close to the city of Edmonton.

“Looks like evacuation for Josh, scary stuff,” Mike Hunter stated on Facebook about the status of his son.

“Looks like Uncle Rob and Aunt Chrissy may have a visitor.”

However, getting out of Fort McMurray is easier said than done.  Mike says his son made a quick return to his home to get his dog before fleeing his home.

“I have been talking with Josh. He has fled Fort McMurray and about 10 min south of Fort Mac spent the night at the side of the road due to traffic and low fuel. He was hoping to get some fuel from the RCMP and try and make it to the next town, Anzac, but he needs food, water and fuel,” Mike told BayToday.ca this afternoon.

The 24-year-old oil worker is one a number of motorists stranded on the side of the highway waiting for help.

Alberta Transportation said on Twitter earlier today that it was escorting a fuel tanker up Highway 63 to assist stranded motorists, hopefully including Josh Hunter.
