Peter Bullock, Senior Planner, Project Manager, with Stantec Consulting , will be the guest speaker at the annual general meeting of The Greater Nipissing Stewardship Council (GNSC) on Wednesday, April 16, 7:00 p.m. at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority Building (Natural Classroom), 15 Janey Avenue, North Bay.

Mr. Bullock will be sharing his research on local climate change titled, “Regional Climate Change – Current Impacts and Prospective”.  He was formerly employed by the City of North Bay as the Manager of Environmental Service.

John Thornton, Council Chair, stated “one of the Council’s key mandates is to encourage and foster an understanding and awareness of the natural resources and environment and their value in enhancing our quality of life…on issues relating to the environment and its management and protection”.  Previous AGM’s have covered topics such as the Lake Nipissing fishery, Species at Risk and Nipissing First Nation resource management.

The Council will also be highlighting 2013 accomplishments and projects and initiatives planned or underway for this year.

The GNSC is a charitable organization that partners with similar-minded groups and government agencies to implement environmental programs; provide information on conservation and sustainability; and to increase awareness of the ecosystem.

The Council relies upon its members and volunteers and partner organizations to implement many of its initiatives.

The greater Nipissing area encompasses Marten River to Trout Creek and Mattawa to Hagar, an area larger than Algonquin Provincial Park.  For more information visit our website at www.greaternipissing.ca or contact the Council at [email protected].

The meeting is open to everyone.
