Mark Friday, November 8 on your calendar for a hearty lunch guaranteed to warm the body.
The fifth annual Soup’s On fundraiser is a treat for anyone wanting to sample dozens of soups made by local restaurants and non-profit, food-related charities.
They will be competing in the Commercial and Non-Commercial categories for the coveted Golden Ladle awards.
“We have a couple of new entrants already, which is exciting,” said Dennis Chippa executive director of The Gathering Place.
“It is a fundraiser for The Gathering Place, the Warming Centre and all of the programs that we operate. It is just a nice little fundraiser for everybody to come slop down soup and have a good time.”
It is one of their biggest fundraising events of the year.
“The Coldest Night is our biggest. We may be doing something in the spring but for sure this is one of our biggest ones in the fall.”
The deadline to register to enter a soup is November 1st.
“All of the restaurants have to provide a list of ingredients because of food allergies.”
Soup’s On is being held at the Grande Event Centre.
Tickets are $10 and are available at The Gathering Place.
