Just when you think.....

OPP in Hearst say they have caught four youngsters that were using the local René Fontaine Municipal airport to run their snowmachines on.

The airport has a small shed, hangar and terminal building, with two helipads located next to the terminal.

Police investigation revealed that three 15 year old boys and one 16 year old boy, all from Hearst, were involved in this incident.

The teens were each charged with one count of "Enter premises when entry prohibited" contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.

The youths were also recommended for the Youth Restorative Justice Program.

Police are also reminding snowmobilers to be prudent, safe and attentive while riding and that Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) owners and operators must abide by provincial and municipal laws.

Police are advising the public that MSV operators must be 16 years of age and hold a driver’s licence or a motorized snow vehicle operator’s licence to legally drive across or along a highway.

Under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario a highway includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof.
