Snow Wars Decade is coming this weekend.

This is the 10th year for this event and to celebrate there’s going to be something special, in addition to the usual great snowsports competitions: free snowboarding and skiing at Jack Pine Hill on Saturday night!

Jack Pine Hill isn’t normally open on Saturday nights, but they will be this week because Cheapskates Quality Sporting Goods and Performance Nissan have rented the whole hill! And now they’re going to give it away!! That’s right! With a donation to the foodbank the public is welcome to snowboard or ski from 5 ‘til 10pm this Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Upper Lodge, tube park and rental shop will be closed.

For those interested in some competition, Snow Wars is a full weekend of snowsports action; it’s the biggest event of it’s kind staged in Northern Ontario.

Rail riding is the newest craze in snowsports and Jack Pine Hill’s snowpark has some of the best rails in the province. To introduce the new, long Double Kink rail there will be a Rail Jam on Saturday afternoon for snowboarders and skiers. This will be a laid back informal competition to kick off the weekend. Then on Saturday night it’s the exciting BIG AIR competition. Skiers and snowboarders will go off our huge jump and perform their best tricks. The competition is open to all ages; there is a smaller jump for younger (or older!) riders. The open section will include some of the best riders in the province. Under the lights with the music thumping it’s going to be awesome for spectators and riders alike!
